Market Sizing: Market Numbers and Forecasts by Country, Industry and Employment

A critical parameter for every business plan is the size of the target market.  Our Market Sizing service provides a customised, data-driven analysis, estimates and forecasts of the size of your market.

To estimate market sizes, Cambashi integrates up to four independent, systematic methods with industry knowledge and additional research. The systematic methods start from the platform of Cambashi’s Market Observatories, which contain the results of our independent research, and quantify global application software spend by country and sector. By integrating multiple approaches to market sizing, we improve the accuracy of the estimation and also create the opportunity to gain additional insights.

The four approaches are:

•    Econometric – We create an econometric model to compare against historical and

actual information to give market size and forecast information.  The model is based

upon statistics published by governments and third parties covering industrial activity,

GDP, piracy, and investment (sources include UNIDO and World Bank), combined with

survey results by sector and by technology.

•    User expenditure – We calculate total end-user-expenditure by combining

employment and enterprise count information with spend-per-user or budget

information.  We derive spend estimates from surveys, industry knowledge, and

published reports. We also survey end users to validate and update parameters, such

as percentage retirements and volume of services related to a product.

•    Vendor analysis – We analyse company reports to determine sources of revenue,

adding estimates and extrapolations for privately held companies and for segment

      splits not otherwise available.

•    Reseller analysis – We estimate channel share and margin.  This provides the basis

for connection of vendor revenues to end-user-expenditure.  We derive models and

estimates from research and, optionally, a survey on resellers.
